Positive Signs is a series of hand-drawn diagrams, drawings, and hand-lettered quotes.

  • Created by hand with gel pens on gridded vellum.
  • Each is a unique, original artwork—no copies or prints exist.
  • Some drawings include touches of metallic or iridescent foil printing, using a rare transfer technique pioneered by artist Virginia Myers.

The topics interpreted range from research on creativity and optimism to writings on space, experience, cognition and the lives of artists. 

Many are inspired by books by positive psychologists, an empirical branch of psychology encompassing mental wellness, human flourishing, and optimal experience.

  • Framed and ready to hang with a wire.
  • Also equipped with a stand for display on a table or shelf.
  • The glass has been replaced with acrylic plexiglass for safety in transit.

Drawings from this series have sold at $325-350 each, but for this month only, they're available at a discounted rate in a "Because 2020" studio sale.

 

These drawings were originally published on SFMOMA’s Open Space blog. They've been exhibited at Intersection for the Arts in San Francisco and Wave Pool in Cincinnati, Ohio.
